Centred on the pretty white mountain village of Capileira, we explore the area which abounds in painting subjects. In an atmosphere of camaraderie we explore the quaint and still unspoilt "pueblos blancos" (white villages) of the Alpujarras, and make excursions into the tranquil wilderness of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park to celebrate and record in paint the awe inspiring quality of the landscape here, the lucid light upon it and the relationship of our lived experience to it.
We liaise directly on a day to day basis with all our providers, so that we can ensure that accommodation and general comfort requirements are properly met, and that the holiday element of your painting holiday is well supported by our intimate knowledge of the Alpujarras and the amenities here. As year round residents, we know where and when to find the most authentic local flamenco performances, can advise on where to eat, and what the weather conditions are likely to be. There are extensive options available to non-painting partners in the immediate area, ranging from the very active, such as mountain biking and horse trekking, to the more cerebral, perhaps yoga or flamenco guitar.
We are also able to be fully confident as regards the quality and professionalism of the tutoring on our painting holidays. We always assess the personal learning objectives of our students before every art course, and try to provide appropriate learning opportunities matched to each individuals' needs. We offer tuition in basic drawing techniques using dry media such as pencil, pen and ink, coloured pencils, charcoal and pastels, as well as painting in watercolours, oils, acrylics and gouache. In addition we offer follow-up evaluations, and can suggest programs for further study at home.
